Oriolo

oriolo

THE REGION
The district is located on the first hills between the towns of Faenza and Forlì, narrowly flanked by via Emilia and the line of the ravines. The western part (faentina) of the sub-area  envelops the Oriolo tower. Here the soil is typically red, fertile and not very calcareous. The oriental part (forlivese) of the sub-area alternates to brown and red clay (Petrignone) surfacing of yellow sands called  molasse (Castiglione).

THE WINES
The Oriolo area has a natural calling to producing very fruity and flavourful wines (just like the fruit which is extensively farmed in this area) and that is why it is very interesting to produce young wines. If we move to the Forli area (Petrignone, Castiglione) the amount of more concentrated wines increases.
